You can help NCO make a
difference
for those in need.
The Lend a Hand Fund was created for NCO clients who need extra
help to meet their personal goals and do not have the financial
resources to do so on their own.
“When it seems there isn’t
any hope . . . . the Lend a Hand Fund offers an alternative.”
The Lend a Hand Fund offers donors the opportunity
to give a gift that is highly personalized and meets a specific
need to positively support and impact the life of a child, an
individual or a family. It offers an opportunity to be the answer
when otherwise a program or service would be unobtainable.
This program provides
youth and families who demonstrate need for partial or full
payment
for a
program or service offered by NCO Youth
and Family Services
or
an additional service or program within the community that will enhance
and strengthen the individuals or family’s healthy development.
Eligibility
Any client served by NCO Youth & Family
Services is eligible if they can demonstrate financial need
for a specific service
or program.
Contributions
Contributions can be made to the
fund. If the contribution is a memorial or a special event
in a family’s life NCO will
notify the family of your donation if you so request. The amount
of the donation will remain confidential unless you desire otherwise.
Making a Difference
One day a man was walking along the seashore. He noticed that
during the night many seashells and starfish had washed up on
the shore.
Far off in the distance, he saw a small figure dancing.
As he approached the figure the man noticed
that it was a young girl. She was methodically picking up starfish
from the shore
and tossing them back into the surf.
The man asked, "Why are you throwing those starfish?"
She replied, "If I leave these
starfish on the beach the sun will dry them, and they will die.
I want them to live."
Then, he said, "There must be millions
of starfish along here! How can you possibly expect to make a
difference?"
The girl pondered the man's words for
a moment, and then she reached down, and carefully picked up
another starfish from the sand. Gently, she tossed the starfish
back into the surf and replied,
"You may be right, but I made a difference
for that one!"
